A Little Less Doubt and a Little More Grit..
…and you open yourself up to a little more magic
On a very warm evening in July, after Nick got off work we drove to Lacona and put down the gravel pad that would soon become the foundation of a dream that two people stumbled upon, together, simply by sharing a hobby. That hobby became our favorite part of our day.
We would check on our little seedlings in our little 27 plant hydroponic tower that we had in our spare bedroom. We would talk about our days, listen to music, dance, laugh at the "I'm right and you're wrong" competitive banter that would always sneak in while discussing changes in watering and lighting schedules, nutrients, balancing PH, and of course the ever so passionate discussions of "to trim or not to trim". We have had some of our biggest and best life conversations all while learning the ins and outs of hydroponics.
It all started with 27 plants.
So the rational next step was to take our 27 plants in a single vertical tower and upgrade to a storage container farm with 256 towers, that can grow over 2500 plants at a time with anoterh several hundred seeds germinating in their very own seedling nursery that after 2 straight months of cleaning, reading, learning, calibrating and very literally watching a small table fill and drain with water over and over and over again.. Not only do we have roughly 300 seedlings ready to be transplanted into the towers, to grown into fresh, delicious, locally grown greens that we will, very soon, be able to share with our community!
In the meantime here we are, living our dream every single day ❤️
We took a little leap of faith, mixed it with all of the grit we could muster, and sprinkled in a dance party here and there for sanity and in just 3 short months, more than a couple all nighters spent deliriously getting our dreamy little farm ready for its debut planting season, and here we are! We have much more to learn, many different leafy greens and herbs to experiment with until we have our final product list together... but we're doing the damn thing! We are watching our little plants grow, and dreaming up all of the possibilities that the future of Leafy Dreams has in store for us.
